I just ran my diff with 2 gears last night on medium to high grip bumpy astro and really liked the feel. To me, the rotation was much better throughout the turn and I was able to get back on the throttle a lot sooner and my average lap times went down by a tenth or two.
I used 5k oil in the diff and it felt really free without diffing out. I might try to go up to 6k to see how that feels but for me there was definitely improvement with using only 2 gears.
Also, I was running a 7.5 and there wasn't any durability issues for me.
