I use my buddy's Traxxas Bigfoot and absolutely love it. I'm not into track times, just try to make the jumps and take turns on 2 wheels without flipping. I plan to eventually take it to the beach once I get my own.
I was thinking of getting the Bigfoot as it's only $199 brand new RTR.
The lhs guy told me about the Arrma Granite for $169.99 with better rear axles (metal vs plastic) and even suggested the $249.99 BLX model for a brushless system.
I've also seen the Traxxas Stampede VXL 4x4 that I wouldn't buy new but might get used.
I don't want to invest a lot after the initial purchase. I know I'll likely upgrade some things here and there but my money is mainly spent on my b5m.
Suggestions? Thoughts? My MAX budget is that $249 BLX which I would likely seek used to keep my MAX closer to the $199 area.
personally out of those options, the Granite would be my choice for a basher. The Stampede is a pretty good basher too but I feel like the drivetrain upgrades for hard brushless bashing make it less worth while.
And the BigSquidRC review of the granite give it decent ratings with jumping and handling abilities. Though it is 2wd so you're gonna be learning some throttle control when that rear end starts swinging
