I used to always be a huge fan of a ball diff on asphalt. Recently I tried a stock gear diff with 3 washers per side, a bunch of AW grease and set pretty darn tight. It was just as good as a ball diff in the fast corners, but would track way straighter and more predictable.

You'll get a bunch of opinions, but this setup made me a believer
