Brushed isn't stone age. Brushed is still used extensively in crawling for a few reasons.

Smoother than even the best sensored brushless system
Less susceptible to water damage
Inexpensive
etc
I was replying to where you said you don't see a need for more than 4s in a crawler with an example of where I and others have indeed found a need.

I already have a brushless wraith, it's plenty smooth and has gobs of torque, but I wanted smoother, hence the decision to go brushed in it, as it is a dedicated competition scale class 3 crawler.

I've run 4s in my scx10 as well, but just on trail days where the extra wheelspeed is more fun. For proper crawling 3s is fine. That was also when it ran a 40t Torquemaster, it's got a bit more speed with the 13t crawlmaster in it now, yet to try that on 4s.
