With a 8000mah and a McFactory chassis on my destiny I'm a few grams above weight using the new hobbywing esc. The really small one. With a Actinium v2.
The aluminum is pretty much necessary to be competitive in ultra high grip like crc black carpet. You can run a much more aggressive setup where if you tried that with a cf chassis you'd grip roll.
