Late entry here. The Bixler3 is a nice easy plane to fly and very easy to land. It makes a really nice photo plane also. I would look into a small plane for you first plane. Something like the micro Sport Cub S. It is inexpensive and packed with a lot of electronic assistance. In the easiest mode it flies like a rubber band plane. All you do is guide it. In the advanced mode you can pull off loops and slow rolls and inverted.
