For shocks, are you referring to oils & pistons or oil, pistons, then shock mounting (tower/arm)?
Usually in my experience you find a good setup and you adjust the shock oil according to the condition of the track your racing on. You usually don't have enough time to make several adjustments on a race day.
Any piston or shock position or other main adjustments you should get dial in on the track you practice on. This way you only have a few things to worry about mainly tire selection which can put you up front or at the back of the pack.
