Default trouble shooting a LRP automatic super digital reverse

Hello everyone,
I am a new member and a novice RC guy. I have an older ~9 years old RC10 T4 truck that I have not used in the last ~7 years or so(busy with other stuff).
I went to fire it up today and I observe the following :

When I try to use the truck the motor will not turn. I placed a charged battery in the truck and turned it on. The front servo will turn the front wheels side to side using the radio control but the throttle does not respond. If I jumper the battery to the motor the motor turns and the back wheels turn quickly. The batteries are giving 7.2 volts according to my volt meter. If I put the volt meter on the blue and yellow bullet connectors (output of the speed controller) on the speed controller I get 0 volts with the throttle on full.
How can I figure out what is going on with the speed controller?

Thanks
