I've found the BD to be super smooth.
We have a few blinky drivers in the UK that have gone back to it as they like the way it feels.
Only reason I've currently stopped using it is that in open Mod it was always close to shutting down (or did shutdown) due to heat.
Anything up to 10.5 boosted it doesn't even require a fan.
