That depends on the class you are racing.

For VTA and USGT, the A700 is very good, and used examples are very affordable. The shaft drive seems to be an advantage for low-horsepower classes.

For 17.5 TC, it is difficult to get the A700 balanced side-to-side and still hit the new 1350g minimum weight. The A800 balances better since the motor is hanging off the left side, countering the heavy LiPo.

By the way, you really don't need the floating rear gearbox (or the floating front gearbox, for that matter). I removed the FFG's from all of my cars, and I am quite happy with them.
