The main reason we don't rate our controllers with amp ratings is if we rated our controllers like our competition does, the Max Pro would be a 160 amp controller and the Monster 2 would be a 240 amp controller. We don't feel comfortable labeling controllers with that high of an amp rating just to compete. Yes they will do that many amps, but they will overheat in 30 seconds at that level. Also without the current logging found on our newer controllers there wasn't really a good way to know what sort of amp rating you actually needed.

For drag racing and speed runs, I would recommend going one scale up in ESC size from your car's scale. So for 1/10 scale speed runs, I'd use a 1/8th scale ESC. For 1/8th scale speed runs, I'd use a 1/5th scale ESC. The same suggestion almost also applies to the motor. Running a 1/8th scale motor on higher voltages and gearing seems to survive much better than 1/10th scale motors. Traxxas Rustler with a sidewinder 8th/2200kv on 6s with nearly a 1/1 gearing will break 100mph easily but I've seen people struggle to get 85mph with 1/10 scale setups.
