I found that cleaning tires with lighter fluid can be fine, but you may want to wait an hour or so to let them dry out before applying sauce or you will have less traction for the next run. If I am going to run tires soon I will usually wipe them off with a blue shop towel and a dab of tire sauce as the cleaner, this is more consistent.
