If all you are worried about is making a 8 minute race, yes 6500mah is plenty. However a larger mah battery will be heavier but hold a higher average voltage throughout a race. As I generally have to add several grams to my car to make weight anyway, the added weight of the larger battery isn't much of a issue for me.
