Having software in an ESC that isn't ROAR approved while spec racing is already illegal as mentioned by others. This of course means that ROAR or other sanctioned race bodies will need to plug into the ESC as part of tech.

Skewing sensors isn't anything new. This is an issue with "spec" locked motors as people will inevitably complain that one is better than the other ie; his has more timing, his has better symmetry, etc.

I've mentioned to sanctioned bodies to run sensorless mode. While running sensorless the timing cannot go any higher than 30 degrees off of each phase. This negates ANY and all can timing and senor deviation.

I was told that "other manufacturers aren't capable of this mode so it's not fair" at one point.

Control what you can, eliminate what you cannot.
