I know Jari and a few other hardcore 12th guys are or have been cutting chassis' with different front cutouts near the servo to allow more or less flex, as well as air in for downforce up front. I can't speak from a technical point by any means, but would imagine the bumper could be having the same adverse effects as cutouts in the chassis in terms of air flow at the front of the car.
