Thank you racers for your support at last weekend's Round 9 of the Urban Touring Series. We were once again greeted with great weather despite earlier forecasts calling for a stormy start to the day. Must be the positive energy from all our eager racers blowing them rain clouds away, especially the first timers who were racing with us :-)
In the TC Open Class, the small grid enable us to run the much loved Reedy-finals format. It was close racing between the top 3 and in the end, it was the cooler conditions in the last final which saw the points tie break favour Esmail Apandi who took the win in front of Dominic Quek, with Hasron Robana in 3rd.
In the 17.5T Non-Boosted Class, old hand Joe Hwee was pushed hard by Hasron Robana but managed to take the overall win. Hasron was 2nd while offroad-specialist, Danial Miswan, did a "Ryan Cavalieri" switchover to secure 3rd.
The largest class of a day was the Formula class where 14 cars took to the grid. Setting the pace from the start was Dominic Quek, who took pole position. Edgardo and Ah Moy bumped up from B1 final to join the 6-direct qualifiers in the A-Main. Dominic Quek won A1 and A2 from Allister Lim each time to secure the overall win. Joe Hwee however won the 15-min A3 and with that managed to take 2nd from Allister on a tie-break. We welcomed back Raju to racing, where he took the overall win in the B-Main.
