I have personally been driven in to the wall on several occasions, and have yet to bend a chassis. Or even tweak one really bad. I do the same routine as far as untweaking, then check and it's all flat. I'd say if you bend one you knew it would bend the moment you wrecked. Lol. I had the same fear before I bought my chassis set from Mike. But after all the crashes I've had so far I am at ease in this aspect...
