Regarding the carpet you guys use in the US is it different to what we have in the UK?

We have light grey carpet and a new dark grey/black carpet but I believe I've read that grip levels here tend to be higher there historically. Not sure how true that is or if anyone has a view of both sides of the Atlantic.
