If the carpet at your local track is the old grey CRC then your best bet is the SpeedMerchant. If it is the new black carpet you need a reactive front end car (pretty much anything other than the SpeedMerchant).
The Roche Rapide P12 is hugely popular right now and it won't break the bank. If it were my money I wouldn't waste it on the Xrays or Associateds. RSD (Reflex), Roche, TOP, On-Point, and VBC are all decent choices.
