Which ESC are you running? If the kit ESC, I suggest you just remove the bullet connectors and replace them with Deans for now, unless you want to take it apart and solder new leads to the PCB (not really worth it imho as they can't crank out much amps anyway).

Another reason to go aftermarket ESC.. it is easy to re-solder new leads.

But not to scare people away from using the bone stock kit ESC and connector setup. For the most part, running the silver can motors will be fine for bashing around with bullet and Tamiya connectors. My kid runs that setup all the time and no issue.
