stock racing in the US forces people to charge at high amps to stay competitive with all the others.

I'm not that fast. Is charging at 20 amps okay for battery life to 4.22? (4.22 will put you at 4.20 b the time you are checked at the stand)...

I use an icharger 308 duo, but still never go above 2c ever, and I've never puffed a lipo in 5 years.

Discharging at 40amps is not really stressing the lipo, the 100c draw is many times that. It's the charging at high C that will ruin your lipos. Most have a warning not to go above 5c at all.
