One more question, I noticed my Trinity motors have polarized brush springs, what is the purpose for those? They are different colors, so I assume they are different tensions. My Integy V10 uses 2 identical springs as does the Orion. Back in the day I just ran whatever came stock in the motor, but now I'm wondering if I should play with springs, too.
If using the same springs and brushes on both sides, there is generally more arcing on the positive brush than the negative one. So it was typical to use a heavier spring on the positive side to reduce the arcing. Trinity even offered polarized brush sets with a different brush for positive and negative. Putnam also offered a brush set with a higher silver brush for the positive than negative.
