I am sure you know, but for others, it is just the height of the center pivot ball (to the center) that determines the roll center of a three link live axle. The height of the links needs to match on the pod for bind free movement, but the height of the front of the links has no bearing on the roll center.
This is a good post, Earl. I'm thinking this through: side link height is not about roll center, roll center is all at the center pivot...
It's an adjustment I've never bothered with, so I'll admit I hadn't really thought it through at any length, but what you're saying is contrary to what I've heard before.
I remember some Euro racer grinding and lowering side link balls on his 12R5, and the word was he was adjusting roll center. Misinformed? Throwing competitors off the scent? Or is there a more general confusion of roll center with rear steer? It does something, so let's call it roll center!
