With Nitro cars you need time to warm the engines up and check the tune...

1. the engine may need to be richend
2. the engine may need to be leaned out
3. after a couple of minutes the engine temp willl stablize

after all this the race can start....

I think a 5 minute warmup period prior to race start is plenty!
