You want the servo turnbuckle to be perpendicular to the chassis for maximum throw. The shims are used to move the servo forward if the turnbuckle isn't perpendicular.

Hey guys, I'm racing the 17.5 class at my local track and using 70/30 gears. I ran the 17/31 and my temps coming off the track were around 110. I went down a tooth pinion wise and it changed to around 115. How far would you recommend me change the gearing to stay under temp and still get good performance out of the car. By the way the track is med. to high bite hard packed, mostly smooth with some rough spots in and out of the main straight. Thanks in advance if any of you have any advice!
