I experienced the same issues with my truggy. My setup was
Losi2.0t
Castle mamba max esc (yes, the 1/10 scale model)
Turnigy 5000mah 25c 4s lipo
Tacon 1700kv 4074 motor 4 pole unsensored
I assumed it was the speed controller cogging and a combo of the low burst batteries. I never messed with the settings, but switched only to a HOBBYWING 150amp 1/8 esc and it solved my issues.
Just for an fyi, the mamba worked ok other than the weird cogging between double jumps.
