I can attest to this issue. I've smoked two 7.5s and a 7.0. The only common factor was they were all Reedy motors. I currently run the track star 120s with a 5.5 in my 4wd and a 7.5 in my 2wd both Reedys and haven't had an issue. I have no idea what caused this as I still run the esc that this issue happened with. The motors would smoke make an almost dog whistle noise and be hot as sh!t in like 2 seconds. I'm not sure what you were doing when this happened but on two of the incidents for me was landing completely sideways off of a medium sized jump and then the car wouldn't move. As I walked up to it I gave a little throttle I heard the whine almost like the pinion came off then smoke came from the motor.
