This is my understanding of punch mod. it is like mentioned by another user, a throttle limiter on initial power application. Say 9 is top setting, you would be getting all the power or 100% of the motor as soon as you hit the throttle. Obviously, you still control how much power is commanded by the amount of trigger pull. If you drop down say to a punch setting of 5, you will only get maybe 20 to 30% less power for commanded trigger position at start. I have no idea what the real % is or at what RPM the esc will give you the normal 100% commanded by trigger. In a 2wd dirt vehicle this a very important adjustment and I personally use it in my F1 especially on low byte surfaces.
