Here's a trick I've used on my heli's when using gel to dampen vibration. Vibrations in a Heli can kill it, literally.
Take some good 3M servo tape (double sided mounting tape) not the stuff you buy in a hobby store, the 3M tape you buy at Home Depot etc. be warned if you use the gray 3M tape you may not get your ESC/servo off withou damage.
Cut your gel tape. Cut either 4 small squares of the 3M tape to fit just the corners of the gel tape and the corners of whatever you're mounting, or cut 4 small narrow strips of the 3M tape to fit two side of the gel and whatever your mounting. Don't cover the entire gel pad top an bottom, you'll spend a long time getting the gel off you car and electronics if you do.
Stick the gel to the car and then the electronics to the gel.
The gel won't come off the car and the electronics will stay n the gel. I run several flybarless controllers on this way and I've had my RX8 Gen2 mounted in my EB48 and SCT410 for a ver a year sing this method with zero issues.
