Hehe...you're exactly right. These pieces plug into the mis-configured Y cable in the 1st pic to make it Dean's male from the esc to accept Dean's female batteries.
I've got plenty of single-connector and hard-wired setups, but this was to let me move some batteries around a few different rtr's and not disturb the original wiring.
