I went with the square packs when I built mine, and I see Ryan's had the shorty packs, that is the only place I can see gaining any room removing the cross ribs. With mine I would only gain A 1/16 or so. but with a shorty pack I can see lots of room gained. My batteries fill the whole battery area except for maybe 6-7 mm front to back. And my batteries are brand new with 1 race day on them so I'd hate to sell them to take a loss and by shorty packs to go this way. but if it helps a lot I might have to.
