I am a newer part time racer. Ran a 4wd Slash for the previous 3 years which I modified with an STRC LCG and eventually a custom CF chassis. Picked up a partially built ERSC-10 this summer to replace the Slash. I was looking for something that would have a more robust drivetrain than the Slash. The center diff and bearing design just didn't hold up well.
Thus far I have found the ERSC to be a wonderful truck to drive on the rougher outdoor tracks. The additional tunability has been great. Haven't had it on indoor clay...yet...
Of the 4 times out so far. I have placed 1st with it at 2 tracks. At my home track where I started racing, I set my fastest lap by 2 seconds and had my fastest average lap by 3 seconds with the ERSC-10. The other 2 trips out were to TnT Speedway in Shreveport. The caliber of talent present at TnT is quite above my talent and the track is very challenging. I have ended up at the bottom of the A-Main with some breakage issues on both visits to TnT. Overall I have found the truck to be a great choice over the Tekno I had been considering. In addition, it shares some parts with my old BR-5 E-conversions.
I do have 1 problem area that I would like some input on. The front bumper and body posts flat suck. Has anyone come up with a modification for the truck? And yes, I have bought, and broken, brand new parts on it. I have been to the track every weekend for the past 4 weeks, a first for me!!! During that time I have seen 3 different tracks and broken body posts 3 weekends at 2 tracks. In addition I broke the front bumper both times visited one of the track. I recognize the failures are due to my inconsistent handling of the large 8th scale jumps, BUT my Slash never had this issue. At present I am planning to run a buggy front bumper (I also have the BR platform) and try to mount some Proline posts. Does anyone have some suggestions?
