Recommending to a guy who has:

- never raced (and doesn't intend to race)
- has zero RC experience (and not even a proper set of tools yet)
- has no support system (like a club of experienced racers/modelers by his side)
- has a budget of $300 (and only 300)

...into buying something like a used TRF 419 or yokomo BD7, is like convincing a college kid to max out his credit, put his $25,000 student loan for a down payment, and drive off the lot with a brand new Porsche GT2...when he doesn't even know how to drive a standard transmission or check the oil. Heck, this kid probably wouldn't even knoow that the engine is in the back of the car.

As a new hobbyist (remember everyone, this is supposed to be a fun hobby), it is less important to score the best deal on the best equipment, and more important to feel comfortable in what you are doing and progress at your own pace so that you do not become frustrated in wasting time, effort, and money.

A brand new tt02 (with nimh battery, analogue radio, and silvercan motor) is the perfect cookie cutter car to get started into the hobby. If you progress from this car, then congratulate yourself on the improvement and progress you made. Then decide if you want to keep it, sell it, blow it up, or pay it forward.

Always remember to never go full retard.
