The engine is shimmed for 30% and has an odonald 99 plug yet has never idled or given me a 10 plus minute run time and temp at 230 while on 30% as it has on 20% the last two weeks out.

Should I bother going back to 30%? And if so should I go back to factory needle settings or just richness hsn and lsn an hour or so? If not should I remove the shim?
Most Nova's come shimmed for 25% nitro, so unless you adjusted it to run 30%, leaving it alone would be ok. Switching from 30 to 20 will require you to adjust your needles. Starting from the factory settings is always the best way so you know where you are at exactly. No guess work. If its close now, you may be lucky enough to just go a couple hours one way or the other. Also when you lower your nitro content, you will loose some snap on the bottom and some on the top. Less bang in the tank...Its normal.

If you are happy with it, it has a good idle, good smoke on take off and at full throttle down the straight, good power and you are running 10 minutes.... I would leave it
