What I notice is the shock in the other direction will have a dead spot at the beginning of the compression once the shock leaks a bit and gets a bit of air. This way seems to minimize it.
I was running it that [in Bold] way and you can feel the dead spot after the car had been sitting for a while after a rebuild. I would pump it 2-3 times before each run.
FWIW the cars with the new configuration were hard to keep up with on Saturday's Club race.
