Maybe, it would have to be tested.
The plus with the cap is that you get more punch on your car when attached to your esc.
So there is a plus for having it even with the space issue.
A battery pack would just add power going to your reciever and would have no positives other than curing the so called problem and adding weight.
I would rather add weight and have the punch.
