I actually ditched the steering rack on my SP-1 recently, and went to a direct setup, using the Xray x-stiff saver, and Exotek extension plate (first picture). Felt really nice on track... once I'd turned down my dual rates! (only need 45% to reach max lock).
Pretty much ended up with the servo in the same position as I had had it with the upright mounting previously (second image), which gave a good ackerman positions, with links angled slightly back from the centre. Bump steer wise, 5mm of spacers gave a level link.
Overall very happy with how it performed, and certainly simplified the front end setup
