I have not used the hobbywing 2200kv motor, but I am using the Castle 2200kv motor that comes with the Sidewinder 1/8 set up (the same motor that comes with the Mamba Monster setup).

Personally, I have found that 2200kv is too much, and I have trouble keeping temps under control. I plan to get my hand on a 1900kv as soon as I can. With the 2200kv I have gone with as small a pinion as possible. I started with 14T, then 13T, and even 12T (barely fits), but that is just me.

Consider starting small and working your way up, since you may have temp problems.
