Instructions say to install a second bind plug in the disable port which I've tried and it doesn't seem to work. Ive left the bind plug in the disable port, which seems to disable it but after turning the ESC back on it seems to reengage it.
Ive tried a few different combinations but so far nothing works...
any tricks?

You have to go thru the procedure of binding WITH the additional plug in the disable port....after you've completed the binding, remove BOTH bind plugs and AVC should be off.

Adjusting the settings wont disable AVC....at least on both my DX4R and DX4C it didn't. Easy way to test is turn on car(with Tx on of course) and hold RC in air. Swing it left and right and if AVC is still active, the wheels will turn left or right accordingly.
