I'm in the same boat. I have ordered from onlinemetals a lot in the past (I build combat robots), but I stopped ordering from them due to their ridiculous shipping prices. They are only a ferry ride away from you, too.
I really like aluminum on high traction carpet. On asphalt, it may not be the way to go. Aluminum has so much more torsional rigidity than cf, and since it is thinner, your lipo and electronics sit lower.
