Motors where the phase winding exit the motor and terminate on bullet connectors (380, some sensorless motors) are not ment to have the motor wires shortened as you are altering the cable length that may impact each phase winding differently.
I don't see it being a big issue with sensored 540 motors. I clean up the ESC wiring on all my cars as I want them looking neat under the body.
Not only changing the length of the windings, but the epoxy coating on the wires is very difficult to solder correctly.
