For stock motor racing on carpet with a Quantum Comp 2 in my 12L4, I use 5-0-0 settings on the ESC for punch/initial brake/automatic brake.
try setting your throttle trim so that the car rolls in neutral. You have to hold the brake on to stop at the starting line, but it will help you maintain speed into the corners.
