In the brushless motors the number of poles is simply the number of "magnets" motor have...
You can identify by hand...withou opening a motor to see the internals!
-2 poles is easy to identify by hand... spin the shaft by hand..she moves free right?
-4 poles or more.... spin the shaft by hand... YEAH, right....
The more poles "mags" the more power(torque) motor has!
-This is a pic of a 4 pole motor and a 8 pole motor generally from Rc helis. Same as for rc cars...
-This pic shows a 2 pole motor shaft... you can see only one cause it's warped in some sort of tape...but inside there is 2 mags only!
