Even if you have the USB drivers correctly installed the light on the decoder will stay red and will not signal a transponder passing until the race software sends a command to the decoder. Then and only then they do a "handshake" and the light on the decoder goes green. When a transponder passes the light blinks red. Also the decoder blinks red every 5 seconds on it's own without a transponder passing!
