Larger spur gear will calm down the torque of a brushless motor, generally due to excessive wheel spin coming out of a corner. If you dont have enough pop out of a corner, smaller spur will help. Sponsored and non-sponsored guys have verified this.

Not so. I did the same thing erik did with mid-motor configuration. I used to use a 66tooth spur. I got no pop (torque) on clearing big doubles or triples with that spur. I went up to 72t myself and got the acceleration and torque i was missing w my 66t. Top end was hella quicker w 66t spur thou
Maybe in a broader sense you are right. But w MM i noticed u simply arent as fast w same gearing u had in RM and a small tweek is needed w gearing to get the acceleration and torque needed
