They are still in prototype stage and will fill the tire completely; no ETA yet.

Yes; I use a pair of straight scissors and cut it completely off. This is done for low/med-bite conditions.

No, not the same thing. It is entirely possible to reduce the total unsprung weight but NOT the rotational mass. The larger diameter wheel which puts the rim out further from the center, that moves the weight of the rim away from the center and is effectively INCREASING the rotational mass UNLESS they thinned the material or are relying on a lighter tire.... Which begs the question, how much do the comparable tires weigh ?
The weight of the tire is reduced because the thick inner mounting bead of the tire has been eliminated. The rubber is the heaviest part of the assembly. Just a rough guess would be around 5g per tire.
