For those who tested AVC, did you test it with it set to it's maximum intervention level? Did you try adjusting down the strength of the AVC?

AVC at 100% might interfere with your driving. AVC at 10% might give you a small boost without being in the way.

If spektrum sells enough AVC units, other manufacturers will come out with their own version as well. We all know Traxxas is the biggest player in the industry, and the kind of people who buy gyros and AVCs are the kind of people who buy Traxxas cars. I really don't think it will be long before every newb that shows up to the track with a slash will have AVC of some form in his car. No sane shop owner is going to turn away business, so these guys are going to end up racing. I think we'll be facing this question in a big way before too long.

With that said, it's only cheating because it's against the current rules. That doesn't make it right or wrong in the grand scheme of things. If it gets more people in the hobby, I'm all for it. If we loose a few miserable old guys because it's not real racing anymore, doesn't bother me. As long as I'm having fun and the hobby is growing, I don't see a problem.

One thing is for sure, though. The best way to keep the hobby from growing is turning tracks into sugared up tire eating monsters. I'll go back to running RTR slashes before I spend $50 a weekend in tires. If AVC can keep us from going much further in that direction, I'm all for it.
