I think the best test would be a motor dyno but a blind test using a butt dyno I guess is the most feasible way to go about it.
Find pinions that get the truck to top out near the end of the straight so its and apples to apples comparison as far as temps (motor & esc) and power low end grunt.
A sample of 3 drivers within a hour so ambient temp change doesn't play much of a role.

Data log each drivers run, name it & save it clear the log and let the next one loose
