As Crimson Eagle tried to explain, the problem is:
The Ionic and all other chargers, is limited in how high a voltage they can charge up to. And for the Ionic, the limit is 7 cells.
Try the earlier suggestions:
1) Write to Novak
2) Charge 2 x 4 cells (it's not THAT hard)
3) Get a wall charger or an dedicated AA charger (which can be usefull for digicams and a lot other stuff. Kodak have a K6000 which is really good, and cost less than 40$, incl. 4*2100)
