I have a new durango DEX408v2 with a Tekin RX8 gen1 and Tekin 2050 kv motor. I was geared at 20 pinion, stock spur.
Today, I was getting 170 on the motor and 170 on the esc. During the race, the car cut out several times, so I am guessing that it hit the temp shut down.
I then changed to a 19T pinion, stock spur. The motor dropped to 150, and the esc was at 168.
I thought it sounded like the ESC fan wasn't running so I turned it on on the bench and the fan did not turn on.
Is this a problem? If so, any suggestions on how to fix this?
Has the fan gone bad?
Does the fan run all the time in the esc or does it not come on until the esc reaches a certain temp?

The RX8 fan does not run all the time. I believe it come on at 120* and runs until it cools to that temp. Be a while since I ran that speedo.
170 is really close to the OH NO zone! 150 is good for the summer especialy if its 90+ outside. If you are worried, go down to an 18t pinion and you should be good.
